Just minutes away from the Coupeville Vacation Rental is the charming seaside village of Coupeville. Centrally Located on Whidbey Island and overlooking Penn Cove, Coupeville is the county seat and the second oldest town in the entire state of Washington. They also have more than 100 buildings listed in the National Historic Registry. Coupeville retains a strong sense of its past with all the old world charm of its restored Victorian homes, rustic wharf and authentic log block houses built during the Indian uprisings of the 1850's.

Coupeville's shopping areas and waterfront reflect the spirit of bygone days. Quaint stores, friendly pubs, and fine restaurants are surrounded by the fields, woods, beaches and trails of the Ebey Landing National Historical Reserve.

Nearby Fort Casey State Park is a great place to visit with the many bunkers, barracks and ammunitions storage rooms to explore. Hike around the headland past gun emplacements (c1900) with postcard views of the Olympic Peninsula. Watch as the Keystone Ferry pulls into the docks and then heads back to Port Townsend or grab your binoculars and follow along as cruise ships, barges, tug boats and other vessels make their way up and down the waters of Admiralty Inlet. Bring your kite along for a fun afternoon with the kids in the large open fields at the Fort. The Admiralty Head Lighthouse is also located there and is open during the months of April thru October for Thursday thru Sunday touring.

When you're done at exploring Fort Casey, head over to the Keystone Terminal and catch the ferry for a day trip in Port Townsend by car or on foot.
